Quick Lemon and Onion Dal Recipe:
Preparation & Cooking Time : 15 – 20 mins
Serves: 4 persons
Ingredients :Toor Dal: ½ cup
Onion : 1 big sized
Lemon : 1 big sized
Green Chillies : 3
Whole Dried Red Chillies : 1 – 2
Mustard Seeds : ½ tsp
Cumin Seeds : ½ tsp
Urad Dal : ½ tsp
Chana Dal : ½ tsp
Turmeric Powder : ¼ tsp
Hing / Asafoetida : ⅛ tsp
Curry Leaves : 2 sprigs
Oil : 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Onion : 1 big sized
Lemon : 1 big sized
Green Chillies : 3
Whole Dried Red Chillies : 1 – 2
Mustard Seeds : ½ tsp
Cumin Seeds : ½ tsp
Urad Dal : ½ tsp
Chana Dal : ½ tsp
Turmeric Powder : ¼ tsp
Hing / Asafoetida : ⅛ tsp
Curry Leaves : 2 sprigs
Oil : 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Method :
1. Put
the rinsed toor dal, turmeric powder and one cup of water in a pressure
cooker and cook for 3 whistles.
2. Peel and chop the onion into lengthwise
strips and set aside.
3. Heat oil in a wok and add the mustard seeds,
chana dal, urad dal and cumin seeds and let them splutter.
4. Then add the
finely chopped green chillies, broken red chillies, curry leaves and
hing. Fry for a couple of seconds and add the chopped onion to it. Fry
the onion until translucent.
5. Now add the cooked dal, salt and little
water and combine. Cover with a lid and cook for 5 – 6 minutes.
6. Switch
off the flame and add the lemon juice. Mix it well and serve hot with
rice or roti.
