Potatoes : 2 small sized
Onion : 2 small sized
Finely Chopped Green Chillies : 3 or 4
Peanuts : 1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds : ½ tsp
Urad Dal : ½ tsp
Chana Dal : ½ tsp
Turmeric Powder : ¼ tsp
Red Chilli Powder : ½ tsp (Optional)
Garam Masala Powder : 1 tsp (Optional)
Curry Leaves : 1 sprig
Fresh Coriander Leaves : 2 sprigs
Lemon Juice : 1 to 2 tbsp
A big pinch of hing
Salt to taste
Oil : 1 tbsp
Method :
Wash and soak the thick poha in water for a minute and strain it to remove all excess water and keep them aside. Wash, peel and cut the potatoes into small pieces and set aside. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan. Add and fry the mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal and peanuts. Fry till chana dal changes color, add the chopped green chillies, curry leaves and hing and fry for a few seconds. Now add the chopped onions and fry till light golden color. Then add the turmeric powder, a pinch of salt, chopped potatoes and little water to it and mix well. Cover with a lid and let them cook till potatoes are soft. When it’s done, add the soaked poha, salt, garam masala, red chilli powder and mix well. Switch off the flame and add the lemon juice to it. Mix well and serve.
